The Journey

"Not all who wander are lost."  J.R.R.Tolkien

This is a place for those who are disillusioned with religion's complicity to racism, consumerism, militarism and hierarchy in its many dysfunctional forms.  If you are looking for a more authentic  spiritual experience,

join me on a journey into the wilderness.

About

Hi, I'm so glad you joined me.  This is not a place for quick answers. Aren't the greatest truths found when you don't know where we are going exactly?  I like to think of myself as a wanderer inviting others along on a journey of following a controversial, mysterious rabbi (Jesus) into the wilderness of complex social, emotional, spiritual, and political issues.

This is a candid shot taken by a kid on an advocacy trip to Albany, NY.

Good memories.

“If you have come here to help me you are wasting your time, but if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.” ― Lilla Watson

Don't confuse my activism for altruism. I am the "captive" that needs to be set free. I am the "poor" that needs good news. I am the "brokenhearted" that needs to be made whole (Isaiah 61).

Here's one of the best descriptions of "The Journey" that I can think of.  It is a clip from the late Rich Mullins a musician who broke the mold a bit when he signed away all his royalties and chose to live in poverty.
